Motostar British Championship: Mansfield Taz Taylor takes pole position

Two Wheel Centre is the proud sponsor of local rider Taz Taylor, we caught up with his race results from the opening race of the HEL Performance Motostar British Championship

Coinciding with the opening of the MCE Insurance BSB championship this sunny bank holiday was the HEL Peformance Motostar British Championship, a similar competition for the younger generation of British riders. Open for both Moto3 and 125cc machines, these races really put young, upcoming riding talent through their paces.

Taz Taylor, a 17-year-old local riding hero here in Mansfield, made his debut in the national tournament this weekend at the Donington course racetrack. Following his success in the 2014 Motul Motorstar British Championship where he worked himself hard to place in at 2nd, we have high hopes for Taz Taylor achieving further success with the RS racing team!

But luck was on his side as both him and the bike came out fairly scot-free, leaving him fit and ready for the second qualifying session the following day.

A crash-free Sunday and determined attitude grabbed him the third grid position for the first race, which he fought to sustain, and even pushed forward, to finish with a superb second place win, and the satisfaction of having ridden the fastest lap!

Easter Monday was no less successful as Taz earned himself another spot on the podium! Leading for most of the race, he was close to beating former GP riders Scott Deroue and Brad Ray, but an unfortunate run-off into the Esses in his last lap left him slightly behind, but still able to boast an impressive third place.

Taz seemed just as chuffed with his result as all of fans, including us here at Two Wheel Centre, and always so appreciative of those supporting him, “They were two awesome races and really enjoyable, just thank you to everyone who have helped me get here this weekend and made it possible”.

We’re so impressed by Taz and his commitment that we’re proud to call ourselves an official Taz Taylor racing sponsor. You can read more about Taz and see a few racing pics here, and check out when he’s next racing here.

Fancy meeting Taz Taylor? Come along for our Charity ride-out on May 17th and help us to raise some cash for the LNAACT whilst riding along with a local riding superstar.
