Created in a High Tenacity Copeland (HTC) outer material, the RST Ambush is designed from the outset to be hardwearing and robust for many miles of comfortable riding. This highly abrasion resistant blend of cotton and nylon is proven to withstand the intense friction that you may experience in an accident scenario. As additional protection, the RST Ambush Jacket features a Ballistic textile overlay at the shoulder and elbows, areas which typically experience the most abrasion when sliding across tarmac. All these materials are stitched together with a corespun polyester thread, maximising the safety of this textile touring jacket by minimising the chances of a failure at the seams.

The protection doesn’t just stop at the outer material. Beneath the surface of this military inspired textile jacket lies a full suite of CE approved armour. CE Level 2 armour at the back, shoulders and elbows are all supplied as standard, offering protection from impacts at these key areas and help to dissipate impact energy away to help protect your bones, internal organs and more from damage. For the first time, RST have included a chest protector in the Ambush jacket as standard, furthering the protective properties of the jacket and maximising your protection when out on the road.

As the RST Ambush Jacket is a part of the RST Pro Series Collection, this textile touring jacket makes use of the fixed SinAqua Pro waterproof membrane, offering an incredible amount of waterproofing to ensure that you’re safe from the elements when riding whilst remaining brilliantly breathable too for increased comfort during the summer months. The outer material of the RST Ambush Jacket is treated with DWR coating, maximising the waterproofing potential by making the water bead up and run away before having a chance to soak into the textile outer material.

You’ll also find a hollowfill quilted full length thermal liner, designed to offer insulation when riding in cooler climates. This thermal lining is easily removable with a simple zipper, letting you efficiently remove the lining at a moments notice and reattach if it the situation calls for it.

Ventilation is incredibly important in a textile touring jacket, whether its local countryside exploration or full-on touring across continents. As such, the RST Ambush Jacket features a huge amount of ventilation points at the front, with four front facing vents along with ventilation areas at the arms to help drive copious amounts of cool air into the jacket while riding. The addition of two rear exhaust vents also help to expel the warm stale air from within the jacket for a complete cooling experience. Within all these ventilation openings is RST’s K540 mesh, which flows up to four times more air than other mesh materials. All ventilation openings feature rubberised zippers, designed to lock out moisture from entering the jacket as well as stopping the zip heads from scratching your bike.

As a textile touring jacket, the RST Ambush needed to have plenty of storage options. As such, the RST Ambush Jacket features no less than ten waterproof outer pockets which provides ample storage space for all road essentials. Innovative pockets on the Ambush include two net pockets at the sides of the garment, ideal for storing your gloves in if they are wet. You’ll also find a small pocket at the cuff of your wrist on each arm; this is designed to house your payment cards to make use payage/toll booths in European countries an easier experience.

Turn your focus to the rear of the jacket and you’ll find an upper zipped area which opens up the hydropack pocket, designed to house your camelback water bladder for an on-the-go hydration option. Your drinking tube easily pokes through the designated opening with rubberised gripper to be fitted to your helmet when needed.

At the lower back of the Ambush Jacket lies a map pocket, designed to house maps and other important documents to minimise folding and crinkling these important papers. This map pocket is backed with the same SinAqua Pro waterproof membrane and sealed with a rubberised zipper to lock out the water, and the whole pocket is removable for ease of access when needed, as well as being able to use this map pocket as a bumbag too!

The whole jacket closes with a full length vislon-style zipper, making zipping into and out of this textile jacket much easier. This full-length zipper runs all the way up to the collar, which is corduroy lined and has a twin adjustment point to maximise comfort over longer distances.

Twin morale patches with a Union Jack and RST logo come included as standard and are Velcro fixed, meaning that they can be replaced easily if you deem necessary. You’ll also find molle straps at the upper chest which can be used to attach an RST Molle Zipped Bag for even greater storage opportunity and are available to purchase separately.
