DAS / Direct Access Motorcycle Training in Nottingham

If you wish to take your full motorycle test you will need a current CBT certificate. You will also need to pass your motorcycle theory test. Gaining any of the following licences will allow you to remove L-plates, carry a pillion passenger and ride on the motorway.

Categories of licence:

There are three categories of licence. You must take the correct test according to your age:

  • Age 17 to 18 years old: Pass your Module 1 and Module 2 tests on a 125cc machine. This will allow you to ride any 125cc motorcycle.
  • Age 19 to 23 years old: Pass your Module 1 and Module 2 tests on a machine of maximum 47bhp. This will allow you to ride a machine of maximum 47bhp on the road, subject to other limitations relating to the power-to-weight ratio and unrestricted power of the bike. Two Wheel Training uses recently registered Suzuki SFV650 motorcycles with ABS braking and an interchangeable ECU (Electronic Control Unit) to limit the power output to 47bhp.
  • Age 24 years or over: Pass your Module 1 and Module 2 tests on an unrestricted motorcycle, allowing you to legally ride any size of motorcycle. Two Wheel Training uses recently registered Suzuki SFV650 motorcycles with ABS braking.

What does the Module 1 training and test involve?

Module 1 is a test which is conducted by the DVSA on a local MMA (Motorcycle Manoevuring Area). Here at Two Wheel Training we pre-book the actual MMA test site for the candidate to practice all elements of the Module 1,ensuring they are then confident and fully ready for the test. The test sites we use for Module 1 training are at Nottingham, Lincoln and Rotherham (meaning there is plenty of time in the saddle/on the road too!).

What does the Module 2 training and test involve?

The Module 2 training and test is all road-based. The DVSA examiner will be looking for a safe, confident, legal and progressive road ride. Prior to taking your Module 2 test your Two Wheel Training instructor will ensure they incorporate into your training all the likely elements you will encounter on your test and beyond. We really believe in training our pupils beyond the basic test standard - giving you advanced advice and riding skills for life.
