Influenced by road race machines of the 1970s and 1980s - such as the Yoshimura GS1000 AMA superbike - the 8TT wraps its award-winning engine in period race bike-inspired bodywork, finished with sporty detailing from the seat to the decals on the fairing and tank.

With double overhead cams, four valves per cylinder, 270° crankshaft design, and a long stroke, Suzuki's 776cc parallel twin engine has received widespread praise for its flexible nature and characterful power delivery, with drive from the very bottom of the rev range and a free-revving nature right to its peak power output.

A patented biaxial primary balancer situates its two balancers at 90° to the crankshaft. This patented mechanism suppresses vibrations, making for a smoother ride. It also keeps weight down and enables a compact engine design. One balancer cancels the primary vibrations generated by the piston of the first cylinder, while the second cancels the primary vibration of the second cylinder. A 270° crankshaft angle cancels secondary vibrations.

A steel frame with separate, bolt-on subframe is designed to offer the optimum blend of stability and agility, and work on every ride, from the commute to a weekend blast. As we as a functional item, the exposed subframe also exudes class and provides a premium look. With a longer wheelbase to provide sure-footed stability, the 8TT's chassis is carefully engineered to ensure agile handling. A key focus of the design is rider comfort, with balanced weight distribution between the front and rear. The compact dimensions of the engine further enable this geometry. This in turn helps the rider shift weight more easily towards the front, improving cornering.

With a round headlight, bar-end mirrors, and paint schemes inspired by classic bikes of past decades, the 8TT embodies Suzuki's retro spirit. A headlight cowling that bears more than a passing resemblance to the famous GS1000 superbike and road-going GS1000S, plus a sporty seat and racy lower cowling, the 8TT draws heavy inspiration from Suzuki's racing heritage. Aping the design of retro fuel tanks, such as the T500, 8TT 16.5 litre tank allows riders to go further between fill-ups, while also allowing freedom of movement and a comfortable riding position. Enabling a sleek and low profile, the bar end mirrors add a timeless look while still providing excellent rearward visibility. Retro spirit, next generation performance also extends to the 8TT's headlight design, which, while full LED all around, takes styling cues from 60s and 70s bikes.

The addition of the Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) is a welcomed feature, enhancing the usability of the new Suzuki GSX-8TT. The SCAS helps to reduce the negative torque and engine braking when downshifting from high RPM, which can cause the rear wheel to skip or potentially lock up. The result of the SCAS system is a smoother machine, which offers the rider greater control when downshifting and cornering as well as a lighter clutch lever operation, making for increased comfort when travelling through tight traffic.

Suzuki’s Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) features three different riding modes to help tailor the machine to suit the rider or the riding conditions. These riding modes are distinguished by the letters A, B and C, which stand for ‘Active’, ‘Basic’ and ‘Comfort’. ‘Active’ provides the most direct throttle response for exciting acceleration on good weather days, while ‘Comfort’ offers a softer throttle response and gentler torque delivery, perfect for wet weather days or a more relaxed riding style.

The Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS) features three different traction control modes to let you tailor your new Suzuki to meet your needs. The STCS uses inputs from the throttle position sensor, crank position sensor, gear position sensor, front wheel speed sensor and rear wheel speed sensor. All these sensors feed back to the GSX-8TT’s electronic brain and makes adjustments accordingly when an imminent loss of traction is detected, helping keep you safer on the road and a blessing in wet weather conditions.

A new ride-by-wire electronic throttle system allows for a greater connection between the rider and the bike for a more direct throttle response. This system works by using a series of sensors to communicate with the throttle valves, offering a lighter and faster throttle response with a natural, familiar feel. The inclusion of the ride-by-wire throttle has also made it possible for Suzuki to include a bi-directional quickshifter on the new GSX-8TT, which allows the rider to shift up and down the gearbox without the use of the clutch lever. The quickshifter’s electronic sensors automatically interrupt power delivery for a fraction of a second, allowing the gear cogs to unload and the rider to upshift, all in one seamless transaction. The bi-directional quickshifter is sure to improve the sporty feel of the new GSX-8TT, making your road riding a more enjoyable experience!

With dual radially mounted Nissin front calipers and Nissin single pistion rear caliper, stopping certainly isn’t an issue on the new GSX-8TT. Changes in weight transfer and positioning are expertly handled through the KYB inverted front forks, cushioning the ride and helping accentuate the aggressive streetfighter styling. The inclusion of Dunlop’s RoadSport 2 hyper-sport tyres as standard offer a supreme amount of grip, even in wet weather with additional heat control and consistent performance from brand new to worn in.

A new full colour TFT dashboard display helps highlight everything that you could need to know about your new Suzuki GSX-8TT while riding. Speed to gear position, fuel gauge to rider modes, the new 5” TFT dash shows it all and features manual or automatic switching settings, with white for daytime riding and black for night riding to maximise visibility at any time of day.
