Completely redesigned and with no shared parts with its predecessor, the new Arai Tour-X5 offers everything for your next big adventure. With customisable configurations, increased ventilation and superior comfort, the new Arai Tour-X5 is the ideal choice for every biker and every occasion.

For the new Arai Tour X5, Arai have chosen to use a PB-cLc2 outer shell, which is Arai's second generation Peripherally Belted Complex Laminate Construction. This fibreglass outer shell construction considerably improves the strength and flexibility of the shell while maintaining a low weight and low centre of gravity. The peripheral belt sits atop the eye port, increasing the strength of the shell at a key location. This allows Arai to fit a thinner EPS liner which greatly enhances the upward field of view. In addition to this, the Arai Tour-X5 uses specifically designed mechanically expanded fibre mats bonded between layers of Super Fibre Laminates, which reinforces the helmet further. The latest 'Z-Mixture' resin bonds the layers together to create an incredibly strong bond between layers without contributing significantly to the weight or thickness of the shell.

Like many helmets in the Arai Motorcycle Helmet range, the Tour X5 helmet is given the well-known R75 organic round shell shape that we’ve come know and love from Arai. This round shell shape helps with ‘glancing off’, a safety measure considered by Arai and developed with knowledge from real world crash scenarios. ‘Glancing off’ works to avoid energy being transferred directly into the helmet, keeping the rider safe should the worst occur. You can ride with peace of mind in the Arai Tour-X 5 helmet, knowing that your helmet is not only safe due to its incredibly strong fibreglass construction, but by the very design of the helmet itself. Each Arai helmet is hand made by an Arai approved engineer, who will have to train for up to 5 years before being deemed skilled enough to work on your new Arai helmet, and the Arai TourX5 helmet is no exception.

The peak of the Arai Tour X5 offers more than just adventure styling. The newly designed peak offers more effective ventilation, increased flow performance at higher speeds, improved resistance to high speed buffeting and a greater range of adjustability, allowing the rider to tailor the peak's sun blocking capabilities. The peak is fully removable as is the visor, giving an element of versatility to the Tour-X5 and allows the rider to customise the configuration; you can ride with the peak and visor, peak with no visor, visor with no peak and no peak or visor. This allows you to transform your new Arai helmet into a premium motocross helmet or aggressive street helmet with ease.

The Arai Tour-X5 is the first Arai to feature the new VAS-A visor, which builds upon Arai's Variable Axis System visor mountings. This new VAS-A visor requires no tools for removal for easier and faster visor removal and the peak only requires the removal of one screw. With the use of the Variable Axis System, the Arai Tour-X5 retains the desired R75 round shell shape as well as gaining a larger, clearer field of view for increased awareness of your surroundings when riding, both on the road and off it.

The VAS-A visor is fitted with ridges to accept the Pinlock Max Vision inserts, which are designed to reduce visor misting when riding in particularly cold environments. Brand new to the Tour-X5, this adventure helmet includes Pinlock's new XLT series Max Vision Pinlock insert. These XLT are clearer than standard Pinlock inserts and therefore allows an increased amount of light to pass through the lens. This ensures brighter colours and more contrast when out on the bike, while retaining the incredible fog prevention that we expect from a Pinlock anti-mist insert. The Pinlock insert is included in the box with your new Arai adventure helmet, ensuring you have everything you need for the cooler months ahead.

Also incorporated into the visor are brow vents; exclusively used by Arai, the brow vents offer an additional ventilation opportunity and help to channel more air into the helmet as you ride. With the upper crown vents and redesigned large capacity chin vent, the amount of air flowing into the Arai Tour-X is enough to keep any rider cool in the warmest of weather. The new Arai Tour-X5 also shares a 3D Arai logo vent with its sport touring brother, the Arai Quantic. This innovative 3D logo vent operates via a toggle mechanism to open and close the vent and helps vastly improve the ventilation when travelling at lower speeds (under 30mph). In addition to this, you’ll find large openings under the rear diffuser vents along with two side exhaust vents and a built in neck exhaust vent, each designed to draw warm air efficiently out of the helmet while riding, a welcomed feature for the summer bikers and those touring in warmer climates.

The direction of the chin ventilation can be adjusted when riding, allowing you to tailor the Arai Tour-X5 to suit your needs. The chin vent includes an exterior toggle, which opens and closes the ventilation as you would expect, however within the interior chin bar of the helmet, you’ll find an additional toggle switch. This toggle switch allows you to tailor the flow of air through the chin vent and determine whether the air should be channelled to the rider’s face to keep the rider cool, or directed up to the visor to help keep your visor clear from fogging. This allows a fine tuning aspect to the Arai Tour-X5 that isn’t seen in other adventure motorcycle helmets. Additional aerodynamic properties include the adjustable chin spoiler; this pull down air spoiler at the chin is designed to enhance airflow around the helmet with the Free Flow ventilation system and also helps to reduce wind noise when travelling at high speed.

The interior of this Arai motorcycle helmet is a DryCool material, specifically designed to transfer heat and moisture away from the rider quickly and efficiently, keep you fresh and dry even in the warmest of climates. The lining is also removable and washable, allowing you to prolong the fresh helmet feeling, a welcomed addition for those riding all year round and in warmer weather. In addition to this, the cheek pads, ear cups and chinstrap covers are replaceable, allowing you to customise the fit of your Arai adventure helmet to suit the shape of your head for even greater comfort or refresh the helmet interior after continued usage. Additional customisation comes in the form of the ‘5mm peel away’ padding at the ear cups, cheek pads and temple pads. Perfect for those with a rounder head shape, the peel away padding allows for greater comfort without compromising the fit or security of the Arai Tour X5 helmet.

Arai know their riders and know that the Arai Tour-X5 will be used by riders all over the world intent on covering thousands of miles aboard their bikes. Riders like this often utilise intercom communication systems to keep in touch with their riding party. As such, Arai have made a conscious effort to make fitment of intercom systems as simple as possible. The interior lining features provision for intercom systems to be added to the helmet, with speaker pockets that are ready to accept any universal motorcycle intercom while the neck roll features a pocket to tuck away excess wiring and connectors. This helps to prevent wiring wires coming loose when putting on and taking off the helmet. Additionally, the Hyper Ridge at the side of the shell has been re-shaped to offer a flatter surface for the mounting of intercoms, increasing the bonding surface for greater adhesion between device and shell and less buffeting at speed.

The inclusion of the Facial Contour System (FCS) within the Arai Tour-X5 helmet offers a snug, secure fit each and every time you ride. Using thicker padding at the cheeks to secure the helmet usually means a squashed, sometime uncomfortable fit that will bed in over time, offering less and less support with continued use; the Facial Contour System uses a cheek pad with a spring loaded rebound device to gently yet firmly secure the cheek pad at the jaw, maximising security without compromising on comfort. Thanks to the FCS system, the helmet is also easier to get on and off without having your force your way past unnecessary padding to get in and out of your motorcycle helmet.

The Arai Tour X5 helmet also benefits from the ERS system; the cheek pads can be removed by the emergency services quickly and easily in the event of an accident, using a pull tab located at the bottom of the helmet. The quick release cheek pads enable the emergency services to remove the helmet without causing unnecessary strain to the rider's neck. This could make a critical difference in the event of an accident.

All Arai helmets, including the Arai Tour-X5 helmet, are subjected to Arai’s in-house testing procedure, going above and beyond the mandatory testing procedures required by safety bodies such as ECE 22:06. These in-house tests include a penetration test which involves a 3kg test cone being dropped from a height of 3 metres onto the helmet, testing the strength and resilience of the helmet shell. Keeping with their mantra that safety is paramount, Arai only use double D ring closure systems on their helmets; no moving parts to corrode or break, just a tried and tested strap which is tightened each and every time you ride.
