The outer construction of these Alpinestars sports boots is a microfibre material. This entails using multiple tightly woven strands of high strength fibres and weaving them into a material which mirrors its leather counterparts, without any of the imperfections that can occur with using a natural material such a leather. The result is a highly abrasion resistant outer construction that can easily withstand the intense abrasion that may be experience in a slide across the road surface.

Furthering the sports styling on the SMX Plus V2 boots is the use of TPU impact and abrasion protection. TPU exterior protective elements are immediately noticeable at the shin plate, designed to limit energy transferal to your shins beneath in the event of an accident. These TPU sliders also feature ventilation areas beneath, helping to channel cool air to the boots while riding, a welcomed feature for summer riders.

The TPU protection continues in the form of dual density TPU toe slider, designed to slide easily and limit the gripping of the SMX Plus boots on the road surface. These toe sliders are easily replaceable with a small hex screw, as are the heel sliders which help to lower the friction at the back of the boot, an area which typically experience intense abrasion at the back of the boot.

Rather than utilise the lateral protection on an interior boot, the way which the Alpinestars Supertech-R boots offer this protection, the SMX Plus V2 boots feature the Alpinestars Multi-Link Control system at the ankles. This system minimises the lateral movement at the ankle to ensure that your ankles don’t move in an unnatural way while offering the natural range of movement for a supremely comfortable sports bike boot.

Similar to the Supertech-R boots from Alpinestars, the SMX Plus V2 boots feature an interior boot with a speed lace fastening. This fixed interior boot also features additional padding for the feet for greater support and comfort, as well as helping to secure the foot within the boot for even greater protection.

From here, the rider can open the exterior SMX Plus boot using the traditional zipper, which utilises an accordion stretch panel for greater ease when take the boots on and off. You’ll also find a micro adjustable ratchet strap at the top of the boot, allowing the rider to tailor the fit and feel of these Alpinestars boots to suit the width of their calves.

The low-profile gear pad makes gear changes effortless, with a moulded shape built into the pad for improved grip. The low-profile sole also helps to provide greater feedback from the bike to the rider via the foot pegs, perfect for a sports style boot.
