The Metropolis SW features a 54 litre top case included as standard, which is colour matched to your new Peugeot Metropolis and will easily fit two full-face motorcycle helmets within. This leaves the standard boot and under-seat storage area for any travelling essentials that you may need on the road, or perhaps just a place to store your jacket when you reach your destination.

The large top case features a built in back rest for even greater pillion comfort, perfect for leaning against when covering many miles on your weekend trips to the coast. Additionally, the new Peugeot Metropolis SW features dual shock absorbers with separate adjustable gas cylinders, allowing you to tailor the suspension to suit your riding needs.

The Metropolis SW 400 ABS TCS is powered by a Euro 5 compliant engine, reducing emissions compared to the previous model while maintaining efficiency and performance. The 400cc, 4 stroke, liquid cooled powerplant delivers 27.4kW of power smoothly and strongly, even from a standstill. Popular with car drivers and scooter riders alike, the Metropolis is more than capable of beating the traffic.

Riding a three wheeler has the advantage of being more stable than two wheel scooters, and Peugeot have ensured that the new Metropolis SW handles superbly. A redesigned chassis and adjustable suspension give greater riding comfort and confidence. 13" front and 12" rear wheels, shod with Michelin City Grip tyres, provide exceptional road holding and a larger area of contact with the road. This gives you peace of mind on cornering and hard braking.

Peugeot have developed a new braking system for the Metropolis 400. All three wheels are equipped with disc brakes, with the front discs larger than the previous model at 230mm. The brake calipers have been enlarged too, and the rear brake caliper gets a double piston. Coupled with newly developed ABS, Peugeot have achieved a 23% reduction in stopping distance compared to the previous SBC (Synchro Braking Concept) model. Strong, smooth and responsive braking is guaranteed.

Another clever safety update is the automatic emergency braking warning, a first for the two or three wheel markets. The system automatically warns other traffic when you brake in an emergency, activating when you ride at over 50 km/h and the vehicle decelerates at a rate of 6 metres per second. These warning lights will then turn off when deceleration slows to 2.5 metres per second.

The new Metropolis also benefits from a Traction Control System, which improves rear wheel grip when accelerating. Urban and Sport modes allow you to ride according to road conditions and personal preference, and the system can be turned off if you prefer. Another innovative idea is the locking front axle system, operated by a button on the handlebars. This locks the scooter upright, preventing the wheels from leaning while you stop or park - perfect for city traffic and everyday manoeuvres.

The Peugeot Metropolis 400 is equipped with everything the modern scooter rider needs, plus some "car like" touches to bring the best of car driving to three wheels. One example is the Smart Key, which can start the engine from up to 1.5 metres away using a proximity sensor. Large mirrors, an adjustable windscreen, tyre pressure sensors and an electric parking brake all help car drivers feel at home on the Peugeot Metropolis.

Extensive storage also gives you a great excuse to leave the car at home on your daily commute. The Metropolis has its own boot, which can hold a full face helmet, bag of shopping or whatever you need for work. There is further underseat storage which can hold an open face helmet. An automatically locking glove compartment stores smaller items. A USB socket on the dashboard allows you to plug in your SatNav, mobile or MP3 player to stay connected on the go.

The Metropolis 400 ABS TCS shows its presence on the road with stylish and super-bright illumination. This includes two large halogen headlights, plus a vertical row of five LED position lights between the front wheels - ensuring you're seen and can find your way at all light levels.

All of our Peugeot three wheel scooters can legally be ridden on a full car licence (providing that you passed your car test before 19th January 2013). There are no L Plates required and you can even carry a passenger.
