The HIT-Air SKV Vest is brand new for 2012 - an inflatable air vest specifically designed for the young horse rider or motorcyclist.
Designed for use on the motorcycle or when horse-riding, this vest inflates in just 0.25s - faster than the blink of an eye.
Attached to the motorcycle or saddle via a lanyard, the SKV vest inflates to protect the neck, spine, coccyx, ribcage and vital organs.
The SKV Vest is incredbly adjustable to fit a wide variety of sizes:
- Height: 130cm - 155cm
- Chest: 65cm - 85cm
- Waist: 55cm - 80cm
So, how does it work?
The jacket has a tubular airbag strategically placed to cover all major impact zones or vulnerable areas of the torso. The gas canisters are just 60cc or less, and are activated to inflate the jacket by a cord pull.
This cord is attached to the bike/saddle at an adjustable length depending on the bike/rider. Upon impact, as the rider leaves the bike/horse, the cord is pulled and the jacket inflates in 0.25s.
Can it be pulled accidentally, or by someone else on purpose?
The gas canister is only triggered when the cord has been pulled by a force of approximately 35kg. That is the equivalent of a 4.5 stone child hanging from the cord. So, in answer, the cord can be pulled unintentionally, but you will probably notice and stop the inflation before it actually happens.
And what about spare parts?
Yes, replacement cords and canisters are available at a small extra charge (approximately £20). If inflated but not damaged beyond use, the jacket can be de-flated and re-used as normal.
